Class 170 The 'Turbostar' express DMU is used by Midland Mainline, 'ONE', South West Trains, Hull Trains, Scotrail and Central Trains on a variety of routes.
Class 175 Modern express DMU units built by Alstom and known as the 'Coradia 1000'. The 175 class is operated by First Transpennine Express. The similar 180 class is operated by First Great Western.
Class 180 Adelante units originally intended for HST replacement duties at First Great Western but now relegated to less important duties with First Great Western Link.
Class 220/221 Voyager Class 220: 4 car sets that do not tilt. Class 221: 5 car sets that tilt. Operated all over the country by Virgin CrossCountry and Virgin West Coast.
Class 323 Commuter EMU's on the Cross-city line by Central Trains and in the Manchester area by First North Western. They have a distinctive sound caused by their 3-phase traction units.
Class 390 Tilt-capable express EMU's operated by Virgin West Coast from London Euston to Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool.
Desiro Class 350/360/444/450 3rd Rail DC EMU's: South West Trains operates the Class 444 for Intercity services and the 450 for Commuter services.
